Next to the stairs in Englesea Brook Chapel stands the first organ to be installed in a PM chapel, at Silsden in Yorkshire.  The 1820’s were a time of great enthusiasm, and Silsden was no different, and this small instrument would no doubt be expected to improve their experience in the new chapel, following the revival initiated by a young John Flesher, who eventually rose to the senior ranks of the cause.  This talk will look at the congregation. Who were they?  What were their trades?  And what were the problems in a new, lively and sometimes wayward gathering?
