“Understandest thou what thou readest?” Reason and Romance in PM Law and Polity is our first Heritage Talk of 2023 and it will be led by Susan Howdle. Susan is a Methodist lawyer and local preacher who has been involved in the legal life of the Methodist Church for over 40 years.  In 1993 she was the Vice-President of the Methodist Conference.  Her father and maternal grandfather were both ministers from the PM tradition.

Susan will briefly trace the history of how our Primitive Methodist forebears expressed their life together through their rules, looking at some of the ‘movers and shakers’ in that work.  She will encourage us to think about what we can learn about a church – then and now – through the lens of the rules that it makes.
