For Lent 2025 Rev Rob Hilton will present our annual series of 4 online study sessions. Under the series title Turning Points Rob will explore the moments in Mark’s Gospel which took Jesus to the cross and beyond.

This second talk is entitled The Pain of Communicating – Jesus’ invitation to take up the cross

Every disciple hears Jesus’ invitation to ‘Take up your cross and follow me’. What did Mark understand Jesus to mean when he said this? What does it mean for us?

Rob Hilton has always been fascinated by the way the New Testament came to be and how that affects what is in it. He has been a Methodist Minister since 1992. He has built his own shepherd’s hut, he once ran a marathon, and last year he qualified as a steam locomotive fireman. He is also married to Ruth,  the Director of the Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum of Primitive Methodism, which is hosting these talks!
